Methodology

How SlabQuant generates signals for trading cards.

What We Do

SlabQuant scores 24,000+ Pokemon cards every day using a proprietary quantitative algorithm. Each card receives five independent signals:

  • Grade Signal — Should you grade this raw card?
  • Buy Raw — Should you buy this card raw?
  • Sell Raw — Should you sell this raw card?
  • Buy Slab — Should you buy this graded slab?
  • Sell Slab — Should you sell this graded slab?

How It Works

Proprietary Scoring Algorithm

Our proprietary scoring model analyzes quantitative factors across pricing, supply dynamics, graded market activity, and demand signals to produce a composite score for every card. Specific factor weights and methodology are confidential.

Real Grading Data

We use actual PSA population reports and real eBay completed sales data — not estimates or blended averages. Every price in our system comes from a verified transaction.

Multi-Source Intelligence

Our signals combine data from multiple independent sources including real-time market pricing, grading population databases, search demand indicators, and supply-side analytics.

Accuracy & Transparency

We put our money where our mouth is. Our public portfolio follows every signal we publish — updated daily.

What Makes Us Different

Five Signals, Not One

Grade, buy raw, sell raw, buy slab, sell slab — five independent signals per card.

Probability, Not Certainty

We give you odds, not promises. '73% chance of profit' is honest.

Real Data Only

Every price comes from actual sales. No estimates, no blended averages.

Transparent Track Record

We publish accuracy including wrong calls. The algo improves over time.

Understanding Your Report

Every SlabQuant report gives you a complete picture. Here's what each section means:

🎯

Five Signals

Every card gets five independent signals: Grade It? (should you send it to PSA), Buy Raw? (should you buy this card raw), Sell Raw? (should you sell this raw card), Buy Slab? (should you buy this graded slab), and Sell Slab? (should you sell this graded slab).

📊

Composite Score (0-10)

A single number that captures the overall opportunity. 8+ is strong, 5-7 is moderate, below 5 is weak. Combines all 9 scoring factors into one score.

💰

PSA Price Breakdown

Real sold prices for PSA 10, PSA 9, and PSA 8 grades from verified eBay transactions. See exactly what each grade sells for and the grading multiple (how much more a graded card is worth vs raw).

🎲

Profit Probability

We simulate grading your card 10,000 times. The result: "73% chance of profit" tells you how often you'd make money, plus the best and worst case scenarios.

📈

Price Direction

Is this card's value going up or down? We analyze supply dynamics, market trends, and demand signals to forecast whether the price is appreciating, stable, or declining.
